Cars & Camaraderie Abundant at 2nd Annual Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram World of Mopar presented by Edelbrock

The 2nd Annual Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram World of Mopar presented by Edelbrock brought together a magnificent mix of classic and modern muscle cars, Sept. 19-22, 2024 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

The event, produced and presented by Summit Motorsports Park, welcomed Mopar racers and race fans from across the country for a weekend of racing, along with a Fun Field Car Show, swap meet, car corral, manufacturers’ midway, concert by Trainwreck Country Band and Bader Family Signature Fireworks.

“There was so much enthusiasm surrounding this event, and the energy could be felt from the moment racers and race fans arrived,” said Bill Bader, Summit Motorsports Park president. “It was wonderful to see so many Belvederes, Coronets, Daytonas and other Mopars in one place, and to see the camaraderie among like-minded enthusiasts. We are already looking forward to next year’s event.”

The 2nd Annual Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram World of Mopar presented by Edelbrock featured racing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Summit Motorsports Park thanks everyone for attending, and congratulates the winners. Here are the results:

FRIDAY WINNERS

In the No Box Bonus Race, Mike Walwood of Parma Heights, Ohio, pulled into the waterbox next to Brian Hollaw of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, and Walwood won with a 9.63 over Hollaw, who wheeled to a 10.34.

The Box Bonus Race saw Shaun Bemiller of Johnstown, Ohio, drive to the win with a .004 reaction time and a 6.00 in his Roadster against Jason Wheatcraft of Xenia, Ohio, who raced to a 5.28.

SATURDAY WINNERS

In the final round of eliminations in Koffel’s Place Super Pro, Nick Sansom ripped off an .014 reaction time and a 6.49 elapsed time to claim victory over Jason Wheatcraft, who wheeled to a 5.27 on the top end of the track.

In CRT Transmissions Pro, Brian Hendrickson was .004 at the hit in his Demon, and that paired with a 12.42 on the high end of the track helped him secure the win over Jeff Russell, who turned in a 10.50 at the traps in his Barracuda.

A&A Transmission HEMI Super Stock was in action at this event, and racers had their cool cars dialed in. Among them were John Rendes and Hary Schillings, who went to the final round of eliminations. Rendes took the win with a 10.88 in his Coronet when Schillings turned on the red light in his Barracuda.

Mancini Racing Nostalgia Super Stock is a popular category across the country, and for good reason. The cars take racers and race fans a step back in time, and among those doing so at this event were Scott Taylor’s Belvedere and Gary Jacob’s Fury, which were featured in the final round of eliminations. Taylor pulled off the win with a 12.24 and Jacob arrived at the runner-up finish with a 9.70.

In TTi Performance Exhaust and Headers Sportsman, Scott Taylor traveled to a 12.26 in his 1966 Belvedere to take the win over Jeff Couts, who clocked a 12.18 in his 1970 Challenger. Impressively, Taylor also won in Mancini Racing Nostalgia Super Stock.

Pre-event enthusiasm enveloped the Timeless Timbers Gen III HEMI category, and in the final round of eliminations, Mike Malnar muscled his Duster to the win with a 9.76 over Donald Samber, who drove to an 11.90 in his Hellcat.

SUNDAY WINNERS

Bruce Gaier belted into his dragster while Jr. Hicks belted into his Daytona for the final round of eliminations in Koffel’s Place Super Pro, and Gaier got the win when Hicks turned on the red light.

In CRT Transmissions Pro, Chase Ramey, driving his Dakota, won when Marcus King went -.008 red in his Duster, proving the pressure is on to record a good reaction time in addition to a close-to-the-dial elapsed-time.

Jerry Kassin and Nevin Saum staged for the A&A Transmission HEMI Super Stock final round of eliminations, and when it was all said and done, Kassin kicked to the win with an 8.76 in his Dart while Saum settled in at 10.06 in his Dart.

The exciting Mancini Racing Nostalgia Super Stock final round of eliminations paired Greg Gordon with Richard Schrader. The racers were relatively close on the tree, but on the top end, Gordon grabbed the win with a 10.78 to Schrader’s 10.57.

In TTi Performance Exhaust and Headers Sportsman, Brian Hendrickson traveled to a 12.36 in his Demon and took the win while Laura Trainer went through the top end traps at 11.89 in her Challenger for the runner-up finish.

Mark Coleman and Donald Samber met in the Timeless Timbers Gen III HEMI final round of eliminations, and Coleman, with a better reaction time than Samber and a 10.33 in his Drag Pak, pulled off the win over Samber, who turned in an 11.83.

The Top Gun Ignited by FireCore 50 brought together the eight quickest full-bodied cars versus the eight quickest open-bodied cars, for heads-up racing. In Top Gun Ignited by FireCore 50 Open-Bodied, Bryan Keller blasted to a 3.73 in his dragster for the win, while Mike Knott motored to a close 3.76 in his dragster for the runner-up. In Top Gun Ignited by FireCore 50 Full-Bodied, John Nilsson nabbed the win with a 4.693 in his Daytona over Tony Hague and his 4.696 in his Stratus. In the Top Gun Ignited by FireCore 50 Runoff, Bryan Keller won when John Nilsson was not able to make the call to the lanes.
