NEOPMA Season to Conclude at Maryland’s Superchargers Showdown

The 32nd season of Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association (NEOPMA) action will come to a close this weekend at Maryland International Raceway’s 39th annual Superchargers Showdown, Sept. 27-29. After five points-earning events, a season champion will be crowned at one of the mainstay facilities on the NEOPMA tour.

“Maryland International Raceway has hosted our club for around 25 years now, and it’s become tradition to start and end our season here,” said John Mazzorana, founder and president, NEOPMA. “Royce Miller and his staff at MIR have been fantastic hosts over the years. They provide our racers with a safe and well-prepped track. The Maryland fans have embraced our drivers and teams, and they really stay engaged with the on-track action. We’re looking forward to wrapping up the season at MIR.”

The primary championship contenders, Mike “Hollywood” Decker III, and his father, two-time NEOPMA champion Mike Decker Jr., will be in attendance to settle the championship. Additional competitors on the tentative entry list include Andy Jensen, Matt Deitsch Jr., Ed Burnley, Gary Courtier, Tommy Gray, Travis Harvey, and Wally Zalak.

“We admittedly aren’t expecting as many cars as we typically see at the season finale,” said Mazzorana. “It’s been a busy season for a lot of our racers. Pro Mod drivers have never had more opportunities to race. Wear and tear on equipment and travel costs are just a few of the factors at play. I can say with certainty that the cars we’re expecting are top-shelf, fast cars and talented drivers, and we’re all looking forward to helping Royce and the MIR team put on a great show for the fans.”

The 2024 NEOPMA season is supported by ATI Performance Products, American Racing Headers, Jerry Bickel Race Cars, VP Racing Fuels, M&M Transmission, and USA Auto Supply Inc., as well as club member sponsors Fred Scriba, Kurt Steding, and Gene Pilot.

The Superchargers Showdown lineup also features match races including Jet Funny Cars, Top Alcohol Funny Cars, and blown alcohol dragsters. Additional classes in competition include Warriors Outlaw, MPC Real Street, J&R Promotions Top Sportsman Quick 16, DMV N/T Heavy Hitters, DMV N/T Heavy Hitters Street, Top E.T., and Mod E.T.

NEOPMA Pro Mod competitors will have the opportunity to test all day Friday before going into the first qualifying session at 8 p.m. A second session is set for Saturday at 2 p.m., with Thunder Mania featuring final qualifying starting at 6 p.m. Eliminations are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. and continue on Sunday.
