Frasers Group Sport MD Ger Wright to step down

Ger Wright, Managing Director of Sport at Frasers Group, is stepping down from her role on 30 November 2024, but will remain on the board as a Non-Executive Director.

Since her appointment in 2022, Frasers Group said Wright “has made a significant contribution to the execution of the group’s elevation strategy”.

Frasers Group’s Sports Direct retail proposition has particularly evolved during Wright’s tenure in charge, particularly with the introduction of its ‘Running’ and ‘Outdoor’ concepts – most recently in evidence at the flagship Frasers store opening at Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield last month, where Sports Direct has taken a majority 55,000 sq ft of the overall 100,000 sq ft.

Wright has also been instrumental in onboarding new brands and international expansion into new markets.

Michael Murray, CEO of Frasers Group, said: “Ger has been an exceptional leader for Frasers Group and we are grateful for her contribution.

“We look forward to continuing to benefit from Ger’s sector expertise as a Non-Executive Director as we further accelerate the group’s ambitions in sport.”

Before joining Frasers Group, Wright spent over 16 years at Nike, culminating in the role of Vice President General Manager Merchandising Marketplace EMEA. Prior to joining Nike, she was at Levi’s as Accounts Manager for Ireland (sales).
