Lucy & Yak partners with Shelter for Coal Drops Yard pop-up
Conscious clothing brand Lucy & Yak is collaborating with homeless help charity Shelter on a pop-up store at Coal Drops Yard in London’s King’s Cross, set to run from 1-3 November 2024.
‘The Comfort Store’ will feature a donation of Lucy & Yak’s “comfiest items”, including dungarees, jumpsuits, fleeces and blankets – made from sustainable fabrics – alongside Shelter’s curated pieces.
Customers will also be invited to donate their own preloved ‘Yaks’ through the brand’s buyback scheme, ‘PreLoved’, with all clothing donations and profits going directly to Shelter.
Lucy Greenwood, Co-Founder of Lucy & Yak, said: “Since 2017, Lucy & Yak has been bringing comfort to the people. Comfort isn’t just a feeling, we all deserve to feel good, in our clothes and our spaces. That’s why we have partnered with Shelter to present ‘The Comfort Store’.
“With the growing popularity of online marketplaces, charity shops are struggling with donations. It’s important to remember that if you want to find hidden gems at your local charity shop, you also need to donate them. That’s what we hope to raise awareness around as a further thread of our partnership with Shelter.”
Tracey Morrison, Head of Retail at Shelter, added: “We are very excited to be partnering with Lucy & Yak. The creative community they have built is inspiring, along with their efforts and passion towards ethics and sustainability, which closely aligns with Shelter’s values.
“We look forward to working together responsibly to reduce fashion waste, while highlighting our fight to end the housing emergency. With record levels of homelessness, rising rents and record numbers of children growing up without a safe home, our charity shops have an important job to do.
“By shopping at Shelter’s shops, our customers are supporting sustainable fashion and joining our fight for home.”
As well as yearly monetary donations, Lucy & Yak will continue to donate clothing to Shelter, with the hope that its community “will rekindle their love for charity shop finds”.
