Tommy Mallet departs Mallet London

Tommy Mallet has left the eponymous footwear brand he founded in 2015, revealing on his Instagram account that he is “fully starting from scratch”.

According to Mallet Footwear Ltd company accounts, Mallet, birth name Tommy Fordham, resigned from his position as Director on 31 October 2023.

On the same day, Christopher Stephenson re-joined the company as a Director, a role he previously resigned from on 19 January 2023, having been appointed on 25 May 2022 – following the same day departure of retail veteran Peter Cowgill, who was previously a Director for over four years from 28 February 2018.

Evren Ozkarakasli remains as Company Director. He has been with Mallet since July 2015, the same year the footwear brand was established by Tommy Mallet.

Tommy Mallet’s full message on Instagram reads:

“I’m fully starting from scratch, something I never thought I’d have to do, everything I built, all of the late nights and early mornings and time away from my family give me one thing – knowledge, it’s time to go out and do what I originally set out to do…Let’s get it, I’m coming for it all!”

The first Instagram response from chrispye123 says: “So that’s the reason you resigned on companies house last month. Good luck! Respect for all you have done.”

Mallet comes back with: “Keeping an eye on me yeah”, with a laughing emoji.

Earlier this month saw the release of Mallet London’s collaboration with Reebok on two trainers reinterpreted from the latter’s archive. Having worn Reebok as a kid, for Mallet it was something of realisation of how far he’d come. The insoles are inscribed with: “If you believe it, if you dream it, you can achieve it.”

Time will tell what is to come next for the young former The Only Way is Essex star and entrepreneur, who has took the sneaker market by storm over the last eight years – starting with one shoe he managed to get Choice in Essex to stock.

When asked where the Mallet name originated in an interview with TheIndustry.fashion published on 30 November 2022, Mallet said:

“It actually stems from a nickname I was given as a kid, not because I had a big punch as some people assumed, but because I had a little body but a big head! It just stuck. My birth surname is actually Fordham.”
