Bostick Acknowledges Countdown Challenges; Hints at Surprises in Store for Dallas
NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle’s Chris Bostick is riding out a challenging Countdown experience thus far with his signature optimism and forward-thinking perspective. The rider of The Surf Signature RV Resorts Suzuki was bested by his White Alligator Racing teammate, Chase Van Sant, in the opening session of eliminations today at the NHRA Midwest Nationals at World Wide Technology Raceway outside of St. Louis.
After inclement weather caused NHRA officials to cancel qualifying on Friday, Bostick was ready to make the most of his two qualifying passes on Saturday. He started on a great note with a solid lap of 6.920 seconds at 191.65 mph. The innovative rider made another good run of 6.941 at 193.02, but his first pass landed him in the No. 11 qualifying position for race day where he faced off against Van Sant.
Both drivers got off the line with great reaction times. But Van Sant piloted the Trick-Tools bike down the quarter mile to reach the stripe ahead of Bostick.
“It’s always difficult when you have to run your teammate first thing on Sunday morning,” said Bostick. “The Countdown has been challenging, to say the least. The competition in Pro Stock Motorcycle is so intense right now, but that makes it great for the fans. I think more and more people are tuning in to watch us because the competition is so good right now.
“We are going to have to make some changes, starting now. And we’ve got a big surprise in store for Dallas. It could be a game-changer. That’s what we’re hoping.”
After a short break in Countdown action, the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series will take to the track at the Texas NHRA FallNationals at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas, October 10-13.
