R.M. Williams ups UK presence with new store in Marlow and another to open in Cambridge
Heritage Australian footwear brand R.M. Williams, best known for its men’s and women’s Chelsea boots, has opened a new store in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, and will be opening one in Cambridge in December as it increases its UK retail footprint.
That also includes recently going into high end UK department stores including Harrods, Selfridges and Liberty – not far from its store at 43 Berwick Street in London’s Soho, which opened in October 2017, and adding to its store at 102 New Bond Street.
The openings in Marlow and Cambridge fall in line with the brand’s strategy “to target UK towns and cities with a high concentration of consumers who value quality, craft and timeless heritage”.
Paul Grosmann, CEO of R.M.Williams, said: “The UK has been part of the R.M. Williams story for many decades and we’re thrilled that our next chapter of UK investment is spearheaded by the impressive new Marlow opening.
“Marlow’s heritage and character makes the town an ideal setting for introducing the brand’s handcrafted products to a community which appreciates quality and authenticity.”
R.M. Williams was founded by Reginald Murray “R.M.” Williams in 1932. It is currently owned by Tattarang, an investment company owned by mining magnate Andrew Forrest, which acquired the business from an affiliate of LVMH in 2020. It is based in Adelaide, Australia, and also sells apparel and accessories.
