Gymshark returns to New York with pop-up ahead of flagship store launch in 2025
Gymshark has opened a new pop-up at 105 Wooster Street in New York, set to run until the end of January 2025 as a precursor to the British brand’s permanent NYC flagship store launch next year.
The new store has a red theme for the festive season and is carrying the sportswear brand’s signature ranges such as ‘Vital’ and ‘Power’, as well as New York exclusive pieces. It also features a Christmas tree made of weights, an advent calendar locker room and a wrapping station for gifts.
It marks a physical retail return to the city since the brand’s pop-up on Mercer Street in 2017 in collaboration with former athlete Nikki Blackletter.
Gymshark recently hosted its biggest-ever event, Lift NY, which saw thousands of lifters and athletes come together at Pier 36 for a weekend of training, PRs and friendship. The brand also opened its North American Headquarters in the city in September 2024.
Mitch Healey, Retail and Events Director at Gymshark, said: “The sheer appetite for fitness in New York is plain to see. You just have to walk a few blocks to see tonnes of people draped in gym kit going to or from their sessions. As we approach the holiday season, we wanted to give our community a destination where they can get hold of their favourite sets, as well as hang out with us.
“As we gear up to opening our first US flagship store, Wooster Street is the perfect venue to bring a taste of what our community can expect from a Gymshark retail experience. And just in time for the holidays too.”
At the end of September, TheIndustry.fashion reported that Gymshark is ramping up its retail roll-out. A pop-up was opened at Bicester Village outlet shopping centre last month, and further permanent stores are planned at London’s Westfield White City in early 2025, The Kalverstraat in Amsterdam in spring 2025, and the Trafford Centre in Manchester next summer.
Gymshark will also soon be opening a permanent flagship store at the Dubai Mall in the UAE, following a current pop-up there, to further expand its global retail portfolio.
The brand opened its first flagship store on London’s Regent Street in October 2022, while a second UK store at Westfield Stratford City followed in July this year.
